Hello and welcome to Book2bind.com, the trading name of Christiane Duncan (formally Jaspers).
Christiane has a long and varied grounding in bookbinding. Starting in early 80's, Christiane took her love of bookbiding and began to learn the skills needed with a regional German newspaper the 'Heilbronnner Stimme'. Over the 3 years there she learned the fundamental knowledge of bookbinding and print finishing.
After successfully finishing the apprenticeship, she left the newspaper and worked for 2 years as a sample maker in a large bookbinding firm located in Weinsberg Germany. This involved working with large world-renowned companies such as Mercedes Benz, BMW, Knorr and many more.
Moving on from there Christiane joined the 'Conservation Department for the Archives and Libraries of Baden-Wuerttemberg' where she learned book and paper conservation and worked as a paper conservator.
To improve on her qualifications, Christiane decided to apply her acquired skills and aim for a Masters Degree in Bookbinding. This full time course at the 'Gutenbergschule in Stuttgart' resulted in Christiane being awarded the title 'Master of Bookbinding' from the 'Handwerkskammer Stuttgart'.
For another ten years she worked as head of the 'Bookbinding Department' for a church aided organization which was concerned with helping and training people with physical and mental disabilities.
After relocating to the UK in 2004, Christiane has applied herself to various bookbinding and restoration tasks and is currently working on a National Lottery funded project to conserve wills and probates from the local area for future generations.
